Environmental Community Wins .Eco Internet Domain

ICANN has today announced that Big Room’s .eco application passed community evaluation. This means that .eco will be run by the environmental community for the greater good.

Thank you to the many individuals from around the world who volunteered their time and vision to make this historic result possible. This has truly been a community effort. Significant challenges lie ahead. The community will need to decide how best to protect the value of .eco as a community identifier while ensuring it is accessible and useful to end users and registrants.

We look forward to working with you to meet this challenge and to build a successful .eco Registry — details on opportunities to get involved in .eco launch preparations will follow in the coming months.
