TLD Registry Ltd is thrilled to announce that today the Pre-Delegation Testing (PDT) for Dot Chinese Online (.在线) & Dot Chinese Website (.中文网) will begin. This marks a substantive step towards our go-live plans, which we estimate will take place early next year.
PDT, an ICANN requirement for all New gTLDS, is a series of technical tests to ensure a gTLD is fully operational before it goes live. Passing the PDT means our revolutionary Chinese gTLDs met the technical and operational criteria required by ICANN and will have stable operational performance once they go live. A standard PDT test usually takes about a month so we anticipate our PDT will be successfully completed around December 9.
The next major stage for Dot Chinese Online & Dot Chinese Website, after a successful PDT, will be for the essential new Chinese TLDs to be delegated into the IANA root, which we expect to occur around January 8, 2014.
China’s media has embraced Dot Chinese Online and Dot Chinese Website. Since our public launch at April 2013’s ICANN meeting in Beijing, we have soared from zero mentions in Chinese media to more than 2,650. We’re not aware of another Chinese gTLD which has performed as strongly in the competitive Chinese marketplace of ideas.
Our warm welcome in China has given us the confidence that Dot Chinese Online & Dot Chinese Website will lead the revolution of a fully-Chinese language Internet in China as well as other Chinese speaking communities around the world. Once our fully-Chinese domain names are adopted by Chinese business and service providers, Chinese netizens will only need to write or type their own language to access many websites. This is a remarkable improvement on nearly 650 million people’s online lives.
